چکیده

Objective Long-term visual memory representations, measured by recognition performance, degrade as a function of semantic interference, and their strength is related to eye-movement responses. Even though clinical research has examined interference mechanisms in pathological cognitive aging explored the diagnostic potential eye-movements this context, little known about interaction long-term memory. Method An eye-tracking study compared Mild Cognitive Impaired group with healthy adults. Participants watched stream 129 naturalistic images from different categories, presented at frequencies (1, 6, 12, 24) induce (SI), then asked 2-Alternative Forced Choice paradigm verbally recognize scene they remembered (old/novel). Results Recognition accuracy both groups was negatively impacted SI, especially A wider distribution overt attention across predicted better recognition, (MCI) participants, although these fixation patterns were influenced SI. MCI compensated detrimental effect SI focusing during encoding so accruing distinctive details scene. During participants widened boost retrieval. Independently group: (a) re-instatement fixations indicated more successful recall increased SI; (b) attending visually salient regions on accuracy, reliance such grew increased. Conclusions Effects reduced participants. They used oculomotor strategies adults compensate for its effects. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2021 APA, all rights reserved).

Patterns of Semantic Memory Impairment in Mild Cognitive Impairment

Although the semantic memory impairment has been largely documented in Alzheimer's disease, little is known about semantic memory in the preclinical phase of the disease (Mild Cognitive Impairment). The purpose of this study was to document the nature of semantic breakdown using a battery of tests assessing different aspects of conceptual knowledge: knowledge about common objects, famous people...

Episodic and semantic memory in mild cognitive impairment.

Little is known about episodic and semantic memory in the early predementia stage of Alzheimer's disease (AD), which is referred to as mild cognitive impairment (MCI). To explore person knowledge, item recognition and spatial associative memory, we designed the Face Place Test (FPT). A total of 75 subjects participated: 22 patients with early AD, 24 with MCI and 29 matched controls. As predicte...

Interference Impacts Working Memory in Mild Cognitive Impairment

Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is considered a transitional stage between healthy aging and dementia, specifically Alzheimer's disease (AD). The most common cognitive impairment of MCI includes episodic memory loss and difficulties in working memory (WM). Interference can deplete WM, and an optimal WM performance requires an effective control of attentional resources between the memoranda and ...
